Who Are Massive Rocket?
Massive Rocket is a rapidly scaling Braze and Snowflake agency on a mission to transform how digital marketing, product, and engineering teams connect. In just five years, we’ve grown at speed and are now gearing up for our next big milestone: hitting $100M in revenue. We build human experiences at scale, powered by cutting‑edge web, mobile, cloud, data, and AI technologies. If you’re excited by innovation, love solving complex challenges, and want to help shape the future of digital experiences, you’ll feel right at home here.
Every role at Massive Rocket is entrepreneurial. The people who thrive here don’t just focus on their own remit — they understand the goals of the teams around them and actively contribute to the success of their colleagues, customers, and partners. We’re building a culture of ownership, collaboration, and growth, and we’re looking for people who want to make a real impact.
Who Are We Looking to Add to Our Team?
As Data Team Lead at Massive Rocket, you’ll lead our data engineering function and shape how data, AI, and machine learning power client outcomes across the business. You’ll operate at the intersection of data infrastructure, intelligent systems, and customer experience — enabling clients to unlock value from their data through scalable, secure, and high-performing solutions.
You’ll be responsible for building and developing a high-performing team of data engineers and data scientists, defining technical direction, and ensuring consistent delivery excellence across all engagements. Working closely with CRM, Strategy, and Growth teams, you’ll translate business challenges into robust data architectures, pipelines, and AI-driven capabilities.
This is a critical leadership role focused on technical excellence, team growth, and measurable business impact — ensuring Massive Rocket continues to deliver intelligent, data-led solutions at scale.
What Will You Do?
• Lead, mentor, and scale a high-performing team of data engineers and data scientists
• Define and drive the data architecture vision, technical standards, and best practices across client engagements
• Champion AI/ML initiatives, identifying opportunities for automation, modelling, and intelligent activation
• Oversee end-to-end delivery of data platforms, pipelines, and tooling across client projects
• Ensure strong data governance, security, and compliance across all workflows
• Collaborate with CRM, Growth, and Strategy teams to align technical delivery with business objectives
• Partner with clients to translate business requirements into scalable technical solutions
• Manage vendor and platform relationships across cloud, data warehouse, and CDP ecosystems
• Optimise performance, reliability, and cost efficiency of data infrastructure and operations
• Represent Massive Rocket’s data capabilities in client conversations, proposals, and strategic engagements
What Makes You a Great Fit
• 5+ years of engineering leadership experience within data and AI environments, with a proven track record of building, mentoring, and scaling high-performing cross-functional teams.
• 10+ years of hands-on experience in data engineering, with deep expertise across modern data platforms such as Snowflake, BigQuery, Databricks, and broader cloud ecosystems including AWS, Azure, or GCP.
• Strong understanding of data architecture, governance, security, and integration best practices, including experience with CDPs and tools such as Segment, mParticle, Hightouch, or equivalent.
• Experience working with AI/ML ecosystems and orchestration frameworks, including tools such as Airflow, dbt, SageMaker, MLflow, MLOps practices, and modern DevOps methodologies.
• Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to influence senior and C-level audiences, simplify complex technical concepts, and operate effectively within agency or consultancy environments.
• Strategic and commercially minded leader, capable of balancing scalability, technical excellence, delivery priorities, and business outcomes in fast-paced, high-growth organisations.
