Examples of such experience are drafting various forms of legal process, including subpoenas, motions to seal or non-disclosure orders, applications for search warrants or pen registers, and other court orders; preparing, organizing, indexing, and maintaining discovery productions in assigned cases, including reviewing the production for completeness and accuracy; using various electronic data platforms to organize, index, and cross-reference large volumes of electronic case information, including documents, social media posts, audio files, and video files; and operating trial software during court proceedings to display exhibits to the court and the jury. OR Education: a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.M., if related. Education at the graduate level must be in an accredited college or university and must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to perform the duties of the position. OR Combining Education and Experience: a combination of specialized experience and education which when combined equal 100% of the requirements. Combinations of successfully completed graduate education and experience may be used to meet total qualification requirements. In order to qualify based on a combination, graduate education must be in excess of 2 full years. The National Security Section is charged with handling the investigation and prosecution of international and domestic terrorism, export control and sanctions violations, espionage, unlawful retention and disclosure of classified information, extraterritorial violent crimes against American citizens, malign foreign influence, national security cyber offenses, and other sensitive matters that implicate national security. If selected for this position, you will join a well-respected team that is responsible for performing a variety of complex paralegal support assignments for attorneys in the National Security Section of the Criminal Division at the United States Attorney's Office for the District of Columbia. Typical work assignments will include: Performing paralegal work for multiple attorneys simultaneously, adapting work products to the individual for completeness and accuracy. Drafting various forms of legal process, including subpoenas, non-disclosure orders, motions to seal, applications for search warrants, pen registers, and other court orders. Communicating with witnesses, law enforcement, courthouse personnel and attorneys during the litigation process. Preparing, organizing, indexing, and maintaining discovery productions in assigned cases, including reviewing the production for completeness and accuracy and performing any appropriate redactions. Performing detailed and specialized legal and factual research in support of federal criminal law cases. Using various electronic data platforms to organize, index, code, and cross-reference large volumes of electronic case information, including documents, social media posts, audio files, and video files.
